MARION COUNTY, FL – State troopers say a speeding motorcyclist was killed when he hit a car at an intersection in Marion County Thursday night.
According to WKMG, the accident occurred at the intersection of State Road 40 and NE 10th Street Road sometime before 7:13 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said the motorcyclist was going at a high rate of speed when he crossed a double yellow line while making a turn onto NE 10th Street Road. He then slammed into a car that was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection.
The motorcycle rider, a 29-year-old man from Ocala, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were three Ocala residents in the car, two men ages 20 and 23, and an 18-year-old woman. None of them were injured, the FHP said.
